WORDS OF WISDOM

1st John Chapter 3
1 What marvelous love the Father has extended to us! Just look at it—we’re called children of God! That’s who we really are. But that’s also why the world doesn’t recognize us or take us seriously, because it has no idea who he is or what he’s up to.

2-3But friends, that’s exactly who we are: children of God. And that’s only the beginning. Who knows how we’ll end up! What we know is that when Christ is openly revealed, we’ll see him—and in seeing him, become like him. All of us who look forward to his Coming stay ready, with the glistening purity of Jesus’ life as a model for our own.

4-6All who indulge in a sinful life are dangerously lawless, for sin is a major disruption of God’s order. Surely you know that Christ showed up in order to get rid of sin. There is no sin in him, and sin is not part of his program. No one who lives deeply in Christ makes a practice of sin.

I interview my friend Jeff Jobb about how he grew up and his thoughts on God and God’s love.

Jeff shares about his Spiritual gifts, his upbringing, rock n roll and more.

Jeff went to a private school that was run by monks and brothers for a couple of years.  He also attended a protestant school as well, he talks about the difference between the two.

During the interview I play a couple more promos for other podcasts including WAFFLE ON http://waffleon.podbean.com  and THE ANOMALY PODCAST http://www.anomalypodcast.com

This morning Amy went to get something from under the kitchen sink when she noticed water on the floor. Oh oh.

I am not a plumber, at all. In fact, I break most things that water flows through. I waited for Andrew to get home and we went to Dennis Company to get parts. Turns out the locking washing thingymabob was broken where it attaches to the sink. So, we replace the ancient metal broken thingy with a new updated plastic counterpart. And THE SINK IS FIXED! yay. Thank you Andrew for the help, thanks Amy for the diagnosis, and thanks Dennis Company for having the right part.

Total cost to fix the sink. $5.99 plust tax, and some elbow grease on Andrew’s part.

I have fun this week with a sneak peek of what’s coming up on the podcast.

Then we have some words of Wisdom from 2nd Peter Chapter 1 (Message)

1-2I, Simon Peter, am a servant and apostle of Jesus Christ. I write this to you whose experience with God is as life-changing as ours, all due to our God’s straight dealing and the intervention of our God and Savior, Jesus Christ. Grace and peace to you many times over as you deepen in your experience with God and Jesus, our Master.

Don’t Put It Off

3-4Everything that goes into a life of pleasing God has been miraculously given to us by getting to know, personally and intimately, the One who invited us to God. The best invitation we ever received! We were also given absolutely terrific promises to pass on to you—your tickets to participation in the life of God after you turned your back on a world corrupted by lust.

5-9So don’t lose a minute in building on what you’ve been given, complementing your basic faith with good character, spiritual understanding, alert discipline, passionate patience, reverent wonder, warm friendliness, and generous love, each dimension fitting into and developing the others. With these qualities active and growing in your lives, no grass will grow under your feet, no day will pass without its reward as you mature in your experience of our Master Jesus. Without these qualities you can’t see what’s right before you, oblivious that your old sinful life has been wiped off the books.

10-11So, friends, confirm God’s invitation to you, his choice of you. Don’t put it off; do it now. Do this, and you’ll have your life on a firm footing, the streets paved and the way wide open into the eternal kingdom of our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Amy and take you on a fun and exciting test to see what Spiritual gifts you might have been given by God!

So, my son had his girlfriend over to make dinner tonight.  She made a very nice stir fry noodle dish, it was really good.

For the apetizer they made Thai Salad Rolls.

Here is the recipe:

Thai Salad Rolls Recipe #277007

These are a tasty appetizer that can be dipped or eaten by itself. There are many variations that I have heard of, but I have only tried to make the one. Easy to make, and even easier to enjoy.

40 min | 40 min prep

SERVES 4 -6

For the rolls

For the Sauce

  1. Combine all ingredients for the peanut sauce ahead of time, and set aside.
  2. In a medium pan, add about 1 1/2 inces of water in, and leave on medium to low head.
  3. place the rice papers in the warm water for no longer than 30 seconds, or until tender, but not falling apart.
  4. Set on counter or cutting board, and layer noodles, carrot, cuccumber, onions, sprouts and chopped peanuts. Be mindful that you still have to roll it up, so do not overfill.
  5. Drizzle peanut sauce over filling before rolling, or use as a dipping sauce.
  6. Other dipping sauces used are hiosin, soy, and a chili sauce (sambal Oklek-careful, if you haven’t used this before, as it is quite hot).

Andrew got a letter in the mail saying that he needed to come to a scholarship awards night at the college.  Of course he didn’t tell us we were invited.  🙂  After figuring out that we could go, we did.  Met up with some friends of ours Paulletta and Danielle Hollister.  So it made the evening a tad bit better to spend at the Bishop Center.

Anyway, we are very proud of Andrew and the fine young man he is becoming.  Everyone that he works with says he is a hard worker and a joy to be around.  That is cool.

This is the acknowledgement of his $1000 tool scholarship from the Hughes Tool Scholarship foundation.  He got to meet Mr. Hughes, so that was way cool.  Andrew said he thanked him.  🙂  Then of course they called his name as Anthony.  Poor guy!  But we did get to make fun of him!  🙂   We ended up going out for ice cream afterward and congratulated him.  He even stayed still for a photo with his mom.  Miracles still happen!

Here is the video of him getting his award.

I did this fun page with links to Strek Computer Sound.  You should check it out.  I am trying to bring folks over to Take Him With You.

Did you know that over 1000 people per day search for that topic?

Perfect merge.

Check it out here

Hey everybody!

I hope things are going well for you!  I had to laugh when we got a phone call from a friend of ours that heard that Amy and I were on staff at a church in South Aberdeen.

Nope.

I still have a dream to share the message of Jesus with the world in a practical and geniune way without church politics.  So I am still doing the Take Him With You Podcast.  Click here to listen. I have also made myself available to do voice overs, music for podcasts, radio shows and voice mail.  I even speak at gatherings if folks want me too.  I can lead worship, preach, share or even host events.

But I’m not on staff at a church.  I have my own business called Moyer Multi Media LLC.

Amy got a job doing data entry from home to help pay the bills, and I am believing God for folks to come along side us in the vision to reach around the world with the podcast.  We could really use the help.  We are selling subscriptions to our weekly electronic newsletter for $20 or more a month.  It’s really had a great response, but we need more subscribers to offset our bills. The podcast is free, but the living expenses aren’t!  🙂  We are doing this by faith because we felt that I was called to reach more people with a message of hope and encouragement.  Click here if you want to help with supporting us. Or click here if you want to sign up for the weekly newsletter.  We aren’t non profit, we are a business, so you don’t get a tax write off, but you can help reach people that would never set foot in a church.   Oh, and if you can’t afford the weekly newsletter, sign up anyway, we can believe by faith that God will help you down the road and you can catch us later on the cost.  I don’t want anyone to miss out on being encouraged.   It just really helps us pay the bills at home.

People have been curious as to WHERE we are going to church.  Our family has landed at Connection Church in South Aberdeen.  We are friends with Ryan and Angela McCullough, the pastors of the church- they are a young family with a passion to reach people for Jesus.  We also dearly love Korista Lewis, the youth pastor there.  She is really cool.  We have been attending since January.

As to why we are there:  We feel like our family needs some time to just fellowship and enjoy the presence of God with no church politics involved.  The vision that Ryan and Angela have is very similar to what Amy and I have- to reach people in a real, genuine way with the love of Christ in a practical and life changing way.  We are not on the leadership team.

The meetings are not what I expected.  They are much more laid back and informal, with the emphasis on connecting with God and others.  I love it.  There are a lot of young families with hopes, dreams and ambitions.  They all seem to really love God.  The church meets in a renovated building on South Side.  120 West Curtis.  It’s set up like a Starbucks.  Yeah, no kidding.  It looks and feels kind of like that.  A lot of volunteer hours have gone into it, and it’s nice.  It’s a work in progress too.   If you live in the area and don’t have a church home already, come give it a try.  I think you will like it.

Ryan McCullough, pastor of Connection Church

It’s not at all religious, and everyone is welcome whether you have a background in church or not.  Get this, they don’t pressure any of us for money.  I mean you can tithe and give if you want too, but there isn’t even an offering time.  The offering box sits on the coffee bar.  If you want to give you can.  From time to time needs are made known, and God meets them right in front of our eyes each week.  Pretty cool.    There is time to talk around tables, have a cup of coffee and then some really good worship music.  The message usually follows after some very heart felt prayer.  Then we talk some more and share with each other.  It’s very nice.   11 a.m. on Sunday morning.  There is room, but not for long.  We just moved in and will be filling it up shortly!  🙂  That is a good problem to have though.

So there you go.  No more rumors please.  This is straight from the horses mouth!

Bless you and if you have any questions, feel free to email me.  rick@takehimwithyou.com or amymoyer@techline.com

WORDS OF WISDOM
This week from Romans Chapter 15 (Message)

1-2 Those of us who are strong and able in the faith need to step in and lend a hand to those who falter, and not just do what is most convenient for us. Strength is for service, not status. Each one of us needs to look after the good of the people around us, asking ourselves, “How can I help?”

3-6That’s exactly what Jesus did. He didn’t make it easy for himself by avoiding people’s troubles, but waded right in and helped out. “I took on the troubles of the troubled,” is the way Scripture puts it. Even if it was written in Scripture long ago, you can be sure it’s written for us. God wants the combination of his steady, constant calling and warm, personal counsel in Scripture to come to characterize us, keeping us alert for whatever he will do next. May our dependably steady and warmly personal God develop maturity in you so that you get along with each other as well as Jesus gets along with us all. Then we’ll be a choir—not our voices only, but our very lives singing in harmony in a stunning anthem to the God and Father of our Master Jesus!

I then play the Knights of the Guild podcast promo- episode #4 is out now! http://knightsoftheguild.podbean.com

I then ask for help in keeping the podcast coming out each week. I also talk about our weekly newsletter called “The weekly encouragement” we are asking for $20 a month to bring you something to help you through your week. We are doing an experiment to see if we can support our family by encourging people around the world. Visit http://www.takehimwithyou.com click on donation or newsletter. THANKS!

FOOD FOR THOUGHT

This week we have an in depth conversation about Spiritual gifts and what kinds there are according to the Bible. We prepare for next week’s test on what we are!

Amy cautions us on not being jealous of other’s gifts, or not complaining if others don’t have the same gift as we do.

Amy talks about Mary and Martha and their differences.

I then go on to define what each Spiritual gift is and it’s purpose.

Next week we take the big Spiritual Gift Test and find out what we are gifted at! 🙂 Should be fun.
